All our full day tours include a stop to
do a short madeira levada walk. The madeira levadas are open irrigation channels that
transport the water to various parts
of the island. Most of them are deep in
the Laurisilva Forest and
offer some
really amazing
scenery. The walks on offer are of an easy grade so that anyone
can do them. While you’re out enjoying your walk, Luis which is also our multi-
lingual guide, will prepare your lunch. This is a typical Madeiran barbecue
called Espetada. This is made of large chunks of beef
rubbed in garlic
and salt,
skewered onto a
bay leaf stick, served with baked potatoes and
salad. Wine, beer
or softdrinks is
also included. A really enjoyable meal, that
comes highly
recommended. Ofcourse if you would rather stop at a restaurant for lunch, we would be more than willing to oblige.
